Peacock Datura Blouse

After realizing that I was going to be seriously limited to wearing dresses for much of May, I pushed myself to sew some separates. So, here is my Datura blouse. We stopped by Beacon Hill Park on Sunday after brunch to take some photos. I made version B with the peter pan collar in a light cotton voile (that wrinkles easily.)

We also met this guy in the park.

First off, I just want to say how much of a dream Colette Patterns are to sew with. I think I would have given up making clothing long ago if it weren’t for the independent pattern makers out there. I still remember my first truly successful project, my Rooibos dress. The pattern pieces go together without a hitch and they always fit. I don’t think I’ve ever had one of the big four even come close to fitting.

So here they are, my first pair of shorts using the Iris pattern. I love them, they are perfect and I love it when I get to use my own ceramic buttons.

And, today for day 10 of Me-Made-May, I paired it with a Renfew T with a modified sleeve.

Sunset Réglisse

I thought I would make up another Réglisse since I had all the pattern pieces out and it was a fairly quick make. This one is made with a quilting cotton with a sort of sunset print. Things went smoothly once I realized that it was impossible to match the pattern on the diagonal, so instead I cut the bodice out along the grainline and that worked well. I am amazed though at how differently the two fabrics behave, this bodice feels like it sits quite a bit higher than my red dress .

Hawaiian Batik Cambie

I made this Cambie dress last summer. Not only is Me-Made-May encouraging to wear more of my handmade items, it’s encouraging me to photograph them as well. I bought this fabric while I was on the island of Kauai in Hawaii at about this time last year. I love fabric shopping on vacations, I’m always googling fabric shops wherever I’m going!

Ruby Réglisse

I love this pattern, but I think I need to try it in a crisper fabric with a tiny bit more weight to it. It’s the Réglisse dress pattern from Deer & Doe in Paris.
